Oxfordshire Oesophageal And Stomach Organisation

About us

The Oxfordshire Oesophageal and Stomach Organisation (OOSO) provides practical and emotional support to those affected by Oesophageal and Stomach Cancer.

OOSO also works to raise awareness amongst both the public and GP's of the symptoms of these diseases.

The advice we give is drawn from former patients and members of OOSO who have experienced the treatment and operation associated with our types of cancer.

New patients and their carers have contact with former patients, in hospital, away from the hospital, at OOSO's regular Zoom group sessions and monthly 'cafe catch ups'.

We are in close contact with the Senior UGI Specialist Nurses and Consultant Surgeons at the Churchill Hospital. When invited, we will visit patients and carers on the wards either pre- or post-operatively, and meet with patients either at home or café over a hot beverage.

We have a help line which is open between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. seven days a week. It is manned by former patients. This allows patients and carers to seek help or to just talk.

We also run a number of fund raising activities to support additional programmes on which the hospital team wish to embark, and to provide any additional equipment that could help the recovery of patients.
